Dan Terrill mentioned he is taking a trip to the Coast, Long Beach, to dig razor clams November 14 – 16, camping, and welcomed anyone who wanted to come along. Call Dan at 360-675-1334 if interested.
Mel Rogers told us The Big Fat Fish Co.
cruise on October 19 was a success, the Chuckanut Drive was beautiful and the restaurant had tables set up at which about 30 people sat. No knew cruises to report.
Historian
Harry Abbott officially turned over the Historian Book to Ray Payeur for 2009. I think Ray said something about sitting on it to make sure he didn't forget it. Harry also told us of another special day today and thought it would never come, it was "National Peanut Butter Lover's Day. He says it's time to bring the smoothie's and crunchie's together and have one happy country after this. According to latest polls the smoothies are ahead and that's because there were too many nuts in the country. See what else Harry had to say, so read on!!!
Sunshine Committee
Judy Biddle will be taking over for Darlene Hammond as Sunshine Chair for 2009. But first Judy tried to explain about Harry's pig costume incident, about how she liked the costume and I think she got a little flustered; she ended up asking Harry why she just got the bottoms!!!
Judy reported she sent cards to George Reeves who had Congestive Heart Failure a few weeks ago and someone about a toe problem (sorry I didn't get the name or kind of problem.)
Judy encouraged everyone to help her. She asked that when you are told about a concern, ailment, etc. to a Cruzer or their family please ask them or do a little research about whether or not they want their situation passed on to the membership or if we should respect their privacy and leave them alone until they are ready to share. All I can say there was a lot of pink jokes and innuendoes floating in the air.
Message from the Stones…..
If you were not at the meeting last night, Chuck had an episode, his blood pressure dropped very low and he nearly passed out. He could not walk to the car he was so weak we called 911 and took him to emergency. They did tests, stabilized him and sent him home about midnight. Sully and Rollin stayed there with us the whole time…..bless them!
Back from the office on Wednesday the news is very good!!!!
Chuck's heart rate is back to normal, the doctor thinks the Rx Flomax caused the whole problem. He changed some of his Rx…blood pressure meds and a couple others, with his past history of heart problems before, I was really scared!!!
Thanks to every one of you there… you were all wonderful and we both "felt the love" from everyone. What a great group of people you all are. I appreciate it so much but Chuck REALLY did, he didn't even feel embarrassed which is saying something for him; he is just so comfortable with all of you!!!!!
The doctor says to go and take our planned trip to Hawaii in two weeks, he thinks we both could use the time in the sun and relaxing.
Love Carol and Chuck
Social Committee
Lyla gave us her last report, Vicki Sullivan will take over in January. She read off a few functions coming up such as the Thanksgiving Day Meal at the Elks, and our Christmas party, see details in other areas of this newsletter.
THANKSGIVING REMINDER
Member Jack Stiltz reminded us to volunteer again this year to work on Thanksgiving Day to help setup, feed, and deliver meals from/at the Oak Harbor Elks Lodge. Jack said that because of hard economic times he expects to feed at least 5,000 this year. He also said he had 200 turkeys ordered and picking them Friday. If you wish to volunteer please come to the Oak Harbor Elks Lodge on Thanksgiving and you will be put to work. He said to arrive by 10 a.m. If you have any questions call Jack at 360-679-3816.
Trick or Treat Trunk and Potluck, October 31, 3:00 pm. – Harry mentioned that at the "Trick a Trunk" there was a guy next to him who was so scary that he had to disguise himself as Jim Croft. There was blood and gore, and the kids were so afraid to come near, so he finally had to put his pants on! He also mentioned there was a lady all by herself who came up to Harry and said "She wanted to get in his pants" so he brought his pink pig costume pants and gave them to Judy Biddle. Judy was speechless at the time (everyone laughing) but tries to explain, read on!!!
Anyone thinking about a social event or may want to set up one ask Lyla and she will advise you how to do this and what to consider. 360-675-2925. Remember, Vicki Sullivan will be the POC starting January 2009.
Car Show Committee
Pat read off a list of car shows in a 100 mi radius, you can view those in the Calendar At a Glance in this newsletter or the Whidbey Cruzer website www.whidbeycruzers.com. Pat read also about events that were scheduled for dates that would be happening before the newsletter gets to you so I do not list them. There were several other car shows that he stated from flyers he has, so if interested contact Pat at 360-678-8758.

A motion was made by Gail Jaeger and seconded by Jim Rairigh to pay Mike Flowers $100.00. The membership approved the motion.

FROM YOUR SECRETARY
I just want to say thank you for putting your trust in me as your secretary this year and will continue to serve in 2009. This is a good and caring club to be a member of. I want to wish everyone peace and joy in the upcoming holiday season.
FROM THE BACK SEAT
This is the last edition of the back seat. It has been a fun and a very busy year. I look back and wonder where the time has gone. That means people have enjoyed the things we have done as a club. The first "Rendezvous" was a great success and from what I have heard everyone is looking forward to next years event. Family night out was great with the nice warm august weather and great participation. And of course there have been a number of Cruzes and social outings to reminisce about. Two big items are on the horizon…Thanksgiving dinner at the Elks and the Christmas party at the Chiefs Club.
I am looking forward to getting through this winter by finishing Vicki's Camaro and detailing the Hiboy. If the beginning of November is any indication of what the next few months will be like I will have plenty of shop days to get projects done. Before you know it we will be out there cruising again.
I want to thank Ted, Joan and Virginia for their support and work they did for me and for the club. I want to also congratulate the incoming officers. I thank those that volunteered to run for an office and to those that volunteered to work as a chair person for next year. I know they will do a fine job for the membership in 2009.
I ask that members take the time to get to know other members. I know people get comfortable with a group but make an effort to get to know other Cruzers. Everyone in this club has something to offer whether it be technical information, good humor or life experiences about cars and how much fun we have driving them or just plain working on them
.
I want us to take a few moments to remember those Cruzers that we lost this year. Ray, Neil, and Randi will truly be missed. Our prayers and thoughts are with them and their families. We have had illness and recoveries throughout this past year and I hope that everyone takes care of and treats themselves well in the coming year.
I look forward to becoming a participating member again in 09. I wish everyone a wonderful fun filled holiday season and a great New Year. See ya on the road or at a social and remember be safe….. "cruze till ya bruise". Sully
