Talk – July 2013
President Richard
Mack called the general meeting of the Whidbey Cruzers to order at 7:00 pm on July
9, 2013 held at the Oak Harbor Elks Lodge.
There were approximately 40 in attendance. Previous minutes were approved as written.
New Cars
Gary Nienhuis told
us him and Grace have a 2013 Silver GMC Club Cab truuuuck!!!
Car Fines
Even though it was
a beautiful evening several Cruzers are still driving cars other than their
classics or club vehicles. Some have
legitimate excuses, but there are no excuses, so remember to pay up!
Guests
Tonight brought new
member Jerry Bacon to our meeting, who owns a 2002 Corvette Coupe. WELCOME
Jerry!

Membership
– Duane Dillard
Duane announced we have one new member,
Jerry Bacon. This brings the paid
membership total to 155. His info is
listed in the “FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER” in this newsletter. Duane brought up the matter of having a
sponsor for new members. The by-laws
state that each new member has a paid member sponsor him/her or both. Discussion was held, Ray Payeur told us the
reason this was adopted, because in the past the club wanted a person rejected
as a new member due to character, etc.
Sponsorship solved that problem, and it was stated that a new member
needs a member to go to for questions, a connection to welcome them into the
club. It was decided to leave
sponsorship in the by-laws as written.
Sunshine Report for June – Judy Barnum

2013. The cruise will leave from Flowers

Old Business
1. 2013 Whidbey Cruzer
Rendezvous, July 20, Rocky Point, 11am –3pm Committee met in May and discussed menu,
facility, games, etc. Since the last 4
or 5 years have been BBQ, this year going back to picnic style with hamburgers,
hot dogs, buns, baked beans, potato salad, green salad, pickles, chips, fruit, assort
of sodas, condiments, plates, etc. provided.
Just bring your chair. No cost to the membership. Due to lack of response from other invited
clubs in the past it was decided to keep to our club alone.
A. The day will start with a CRUISE down the island and
back to Rocky Point, led by Jimmy Flowers, leaving Flowers Marine at 9am.
B. Games will be available, such as Horseshoes,
Hillbilly Golf, and Deanna’s Horse Races.
C. A 50/50 drawing will be
$100 divided in half for two winners.
Each adult attending Rendezvous will get a ticket.
D. Dessert Contest – Any adult, man or woman may
bring a dessert to enter in the contest (should
not be a dessert that needs refrigeration). Judges will not be chosen prior
and will be chosen at random that day. 1st
place, $30, 2nd place $20, and 3rd place $10. After
the judging we can dig in and eat dessert.
If weather gets bad bring cards, and other games that can be
played indoors.
2. Christmas
Party - Party coordinator, Virginia Teker told us the party is going to be
held at the Oak Harbor Yacht Club (OHYC), December 21. The price will be the same $25. The
theme is “Let the Good Times Roll” sort
of a Mardi Gras theme. Jim and Linda Haddon are members and will
sponsor us. The menu will be buffet
style w/beef, turkey, and salmon and you can have all three. Virginia told us that one piece of
entertainment will be a ‘Cruzers Got Talent’ Show. Many members were upset that they weren’t
asked to be a part of the skits, etc. year before last. So this is your chance to shine, 5 to 10 min
to showcase yourself, non-religious and non-political. You can be a single act or a team. Committee meetings will be set up pretty
soon. Mark your calendars now and come and enjoy!!!!

FROM YOUR SECRETARY
My goal for this

know. 360-679-7936 Thanks again.
THOUGHT FOR THE MONTH
A CAR CAN MASSAGE
ORGANS WHICH NO MASSEUR CAN REACH. IT IS
THE ONE REMEDY FR THE DISORDERS OF THE GREAT SYMPATHETIC NERVOUS SYSTEM.
FROM YOUR PRESIDENT
Like me, there are a lot of Members, new and old, who attend our
meetings and we don't remember each other’s names and we don't go out of our
way to correct that problem.
I request that we all make a big effort to correct this by wearing
our name tags, prior to the beginning of our meeting, walk around and introduce
yourself to Members you don't know or can't remember their names, and introduce
others in and around where you are.
Sometimes this process or habit will make Members feel good about
attending our meetings, and functions. OH! Yea. You may just make a new Friend.
PS: If you have an idea for a way to improve our club..... Just
email me or call me
Thanks,
Mack
