Shop Talk – August 2010

President Bob McConchie called the general meeting of the Whidbey Cruzers to order at approx. 7:00 p.m. held at the Oak Harbor Windjammer Park (City Beach), August 3, 2010. There were 66 in attendance. Previous minutes were approved as corrected in this newsletter.

Moment of Silence
A moment of silence was dedicated to the memory of Bruce Biddle's dad Robert Biddle.
First Time Guests
The two new first timers Arnie and Joanne Deckwa became members that night. They have a 1954 Chevy I think.
New Cars
Talking about new cars Scott Wernecke drove his new orange 2010 Dodge Challenger from the Dodge car lot, home and then to the Night Out. It's a real nice looker.
Car Fines
I have no idea if any car fines were collected, but the weather was great and a lot of beautiful cars were on display.

FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER
1. Nancy Southard is celebrating her 60th Birthday, not 50th, sorry Nancy, I think I made you feel good for a few days!!!
2. I left off the first 10 days of August Birthdays, sorry, catch you next year!!!!!
3. An Open House for ROBERT BIDDLE was held at the PBY Memorial, Bldg 12 on the Seaplane Base on Saturday, August 7, 12 noon to 4 pm. Bruce requested all Whidbey Cruzers were invited.
4. I would like to thank again the Whidbey Cruzers for your thoughtful cards and kind words, hugs, and support. I enjoy hugs a lot!!! I'm still receiving cards, calls, emails from you and it is much appreciated. George was a big part of my life and I loved him dearly even though we didn't always see eye to eye. Now it's time to move forward and I'm doing that. Brady is my support and great help with everything around the house, my yard and flower beds look much better and we are reconnecting again. Thank you. Joan

FROM YOUR SECRETARY
I will print any corrections/additions to the minutes/newsletter in the "FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER"section of the newsletter when advised.

REQUEST: Please speak loudly when addressing the membership or giving a report so I don't miss out on important information. Our meetings are fun, crazy, and informative and I want to make sure I get the correct info to you. If I miss a birthday, or put info wrong in this newsletter, please let me know. 360-679-7936 Thanks!

It is my goal in regards to the newsletter, to complete it, mail it, and be on the website by or before the 15th of the month. I would like to receive committee reports via email trfj1@urraca.whidbey.net or on paper at the monthly meetings and/or by the Friday following the monthly meeting. Thanks again.

PRESDENT'S CORNER:

Great meeting, Cruzers! The outdoors was great and the desserts were even better. We may elect to have next year's meeting an hour earlier so we don't have to compete with the music. Anyway, again a special thanks to the Jaeger's for hosting the annual Rendezvous and for all of you who helped with the event. Whichever of you were in charge of controlling the weather – GREAT JOB!

We welcomed some new members last Tuesday and we look forward to working with them. There just may be a new President in there. Speaking of...... Don't be timid about stepping up to one of the offices of your Board of Directors. I believe everyone should have a shot at it and I encourage all of you to partake. Contact one of the members of the Nominating Committee and let them know you are ready. Give yourself a chance to make the improvements in our club that you want to see made. Good luck to all of you.

Many events for us this time of year and the one closest to home will be on 14 August at City Beach. Hope to see all of you there. I hope I can be there. I may have to have someone else drive my T-Bird for me.

Enjoy the rest of the summer, Cruzers.

    The Prez
