Membership – Gail Jaeger

Gail reported 128 paid members so far for 2009. She mentioned that delinquent notices are being sent out to those who have not paid their 2009 dues as to date. Gail presented the idea of a new roster format into a small booklet so it could carried in a in a purse, pocket, glove compartment, etc. It may cost some, be printed once a year and have blank pages for notes and changes. Membership said yes to let Gail proceed. Gail put out an email asking for everyone to respond with personal info for the membership booklet to keep errors to a minimum. She would like the info by March 18. Please email her, phone her, or mail her the following:

Cruz Committee – Mel Rogers and Dan Terrill

Mel encouraged anyone to contact him about an idea for a cruise that the club could participate in.

Chelan Trip/Car Show, June 5-7 – Mel
says
the Cruzers have taken over the lodge for the weekend, some rooms may be left, so contact Mel or Deanna for the 1 800 number and ask how to reserve your spot or possibly get on a list so if anyone cancels you can have the opportunity of filling the reservation. Call Mel at 360-678-7727 or email meldeanna@comcast.net if there are any questions. Definite details of the trip agenda will be made in April as the date gets closer.

Bonneville Salt Flats Speedway, August 6-15 - Don "Sully" Sullivan said that it starts the beginning of August. First couple days are inspections, course opens up on the 8th and 9th and 14th and 15th. Sully has info about scheduling, hotels, etc. Anyone interested contact Sully at 360-678-6032. Sully and Vicki will not be going as planned, so you are on your own.

Seafood and Prime Rib House Dinner Social- Jim Gleeson suggested a dinner cruise to LaConner at the Seafood and Prime Rib House. He said they offered special rates for groups of 30 to 40 people weekdays. He is going to see what's available on a Tuesday and get back to us via email or next meeting with date, price, etc. Flounder's Bay at the Anacortes Marina is no longer in business.

Other one day cruises were mentioned such as the PACCAR Open House and Nut House Cruise in August. No specific dates mentioned at this time. A "We Don't Know Where the Hell we're Goin" Cruise will be scheduled late April, but just to let you know be prepared to have money in your pocket and gas in the car, only the coordinators will know. No specific date set for this either. Sounds like fun doesn't it!!!!!!

Historian – Ray Payeur

Listening to today's budget report Ray told us after looking through some newsletters 10 years ago our logo was adopted and the budget then was $639.00.

Sunshine Committee – Judy Biddle

Judy reported that Pam Taylor had gone back in the hospital and Larry Brewer's father had a heart attack and in that same hospital. Harry Gibson has returned home and well enough to receive visitors. Please call ahead before coming over. Margie Baxley is out and about after knee surgery on February 24, she was at the meeting tonight.

If the illness or medical problem is not mentioned the reason is either it's not known or the family/person did not want it to be known. Concerned friends may ask our President or Judy Biddle for updates or how to send well wishes.

Contact Judy Biddle if you know of someone in need of a little "SUNSHINE" in their lives, at 360-675-6970 or email
bjbiddle@verizon.net.

Website – Ed Hammond

Ed told two new things about our web page. The first is good news, you can listen to music on the front page, you can scroll down to the bottom and pick your own selection from several listed. The membership cars section also has music. The second is bad news, Ed rec'd a letter from COMCAST, and as of the end of March they are discontinuing the photo show circle. Ed and his son will be putting their heads together to find an alternative way to show the photos of events and our classics on the website. You still can point or click on the car photo to see a larger image.

Social Committee – Vicki Sullivan

1. Mussel Festival, March 7 - Vicki reported that the Coupeville Chamber of Commerce wanted 13 classics to come to the Mussel Festival. Eight people had already signed up.

2.
Regency on Whidbey Retirement Home, June 19 or 20 – They have asked if we would be willing to put on a small car show for the residents. They will have a Chili cook off, costumes, prizes, etc. The back parking lot will be reserved for our cars. Date will be decided and confirmed soon.

3. Nut House Cruise and LaConner Dinner mentioned during the Cruise Committee report.

4. Memorial Day Campout, Friday Creek Campground, May 22 - May 25 – Alma Williams says 22 camp spots have been reserved. Saturday the 23rd is a potluck at 2 p.m. for all club members and friends whether camping or not. Please notify Alma via email at almabwilliams@hotmail.com or call 360-675-3956.

Contact Vicki to get on the attendance list for any of the above events. If anyone would like to plan an event, have all the details, send it to Vicki in an email to send out to all the club members. Contact her 360-678-6032 or email flygirl50@verizon.net.

Car Show Committee – Matt McMillan

Matt read through March and April explaining that still not much in the way of car shows. Starting in May there will be more opportunities to decide and choose. Contact Matt for show listings, contacts, flyers, so you can plan your spring and summer agenda.

***See the Calendar at a Glance which lists the car shows Matt mentioned plus others. If you have any questions or know of a show contact Matt at 360-682-6722. His email address is macnfeather@comcast.net.

Technical Advisor – Bruce Biddle

Bruce reported that Dan Terrill is back and will get with him to schedule a date, time, and place for an additional TIC? welding class. He also found a quick way to change your oil and that is to forget to put the oil filter back in the car, especially if you had just cleaned your car. REALLY HELPFUL! He has gotten some response for distributor and transmission demos, etc. Someone mentioned a small demo on detailing their car. Please watch for emails specifying dates, times, and location as they are scheduled.

If anyone has an urgent need or other suggestions for instruction please talk to Bruce. 360-675-6970.

FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER

1. Newsletter - One correction mentioned to me was Bill Morrow's email address; the correct email address is bill.morrow1@verizon.net.

2. Bill rec'd an email from Tim and Brandi in which he was concerned about being dropped from the roster, Bill assured him that would not happen. Tim will be returning to IRAQ this month for about 6 months and hopefully back home for the holidays.

3. Copies of the Whidbey Cruzers By-laws are available from your Secretary.

4. Try 1-800-goog411 - When using your cell phone, dial it, you are asked City and State, and then the Place you want to call, Sully says it works great and it's free.

5. Because of the high final value fees EBay is charging to sellers, many sellers are turning to other online auctions. Many items are cheaper on these web sites because the fees are so much lower. So if you must use an auction site and not a web site to buy you might check out some of these sites. Some do not have a lot to offer at present, but they should grow as word gets out. Of course there are other sites besides the ones listed below:

FROM YOUR SECRETARY

I will print the corrections/additions to the minutes/newsletter in the "FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER"
section of the newsletter each month.

REQUEST: Please speak loudly when addressing the membership or giving a report so I don't miss out on important information. Our meetings are fun, crazy, and informative and I want to make sure I get the correct info to you. If I miss a birthday, anniversary, or info wrong in this newsletter, please let me know. 360-679-7936 Thanks!

It is my main goal in regards to the newsletter, to complete it, mail it, and be on the website by or before the 15th of the month. I would like to receive committee reports via email trfj1@urraca.whidbey.net or on paper at the monthly meetings and/or by the Friday following the monthly meeting. Thanks again.

VP MINUTE

THE BARD SAID IT BEST IN

THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, ACT 3 SCENE 1

IT WILL FEED MY REVENGE

YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED THAT IT SNOWED THE OTHER DAY. I NOTICED IT. I USUALLY GET UP AN HOUR AFTER MARY. BY THEN SHE HAS DONE ALL HER STRETCHES, STEP AROBICS, KUNG FU AND KIM CHEE STUFF. I WAS STILL HALF ASLEEP BUT I DID NOTICE IT WAS WHITE OUTSIDE AS I WENT BY THE WINDOW ON THE WAY TO THE LIBRARY. I HAD BARELY SAT DOWN AND OPENED UP MY SUMITT CATALOG WHEN, BAM, A SNOWBALL HITS ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD. I SAY SOME OF GEORGE CARLIN'S 7 WORDS THAT YOU CAN'T SAY ON TV AND GET UP TO CLEAN UP THE MELTING SNOWBALL. I BEND OVER AND BAM, ANOTHER SNOWBALL HITS ME ON THE BARE BUTT. BY NOW ALL I CAN HEAR IS THE CACKLING OF THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST FLYING BACK TO OZ WITH HER BAND OF FLYING MONKEYS.

HOMER SAID, REVENGE IS SWEETER FAR THAN FLOWING HONEY. SO, WHAT EVIL THING TO DO?

MARY LOVES HER TUB BATH AT THE END OF THE DAY, USUALLY SOAKING AND READING OLD NEW YORKER'S. I KNEW SHE WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN ARTICLE ABOUT THE INTRODUCTION OF TWO NEW COLORING BOOKS TO THE GEORGE W BUSH LIBRARY SO I PLOTTED MY REVENGE. USUALLY ABOUT HALF WAY THROUGH SHE TURNS ON THE HOT WATER TO HEAT UP THE TUB A BIT. WELL, IF YOU HAPPEN TO HAVE ONE OF THOSE UNRELIABLE ON-DEMAND WATER HEATERS, YOU KNOW HOW THEY PERIOTICALLY GO OFF ALL BY THEMSELVES. SINCE IT'S AT THE OTHER END OF THE HOUSE, IT USUALLY TAKES A WHILE FOR THE REALLY HOT WATER TO GET TO THE BATH. A PERSON IN THE TUB WOULD FEEL WARM WATER BUT WOULD KNOW THE HOT IS JUST A MINUTE AWAY. I WAITED. IT WOULD GET COOLER BUT THE PERSON WOULD KNOW IT'S JUST SECONDS AWAY. I WAITED. THEN IT WOULD GET FREEZING COLD AND I HEARD WHAT I WAS WAITING FOR. HARRY!! WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED SUCH A SWEET YOUNG LADY KNEW SO MANY BAD WORDS AND IN FRENCH YET?

NOW IS THAT FUNNY? LET ME ASK JUDY.

TWO MORE QUOTES: WOMEN DO MOST DELIGHT IN REVENGE. SIR THOMAS BROWNE. AY, THERE LIES THE RUB.

THE GOOD NEWS IS I NOW HAVE AN EXTRA HOUR EVERY WEEK TO WORK ON MY TRUCK. THE BAD NEWS IS THAT NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I LOOK; THERE ARE NEVER ANY NAKED WOMEN IN THE BEDROOM.

CRUZ'N WITH THE PREZ!

The turnout for March was once again large and enthusiastic and I am excited about the way this group responds to one and other. I appreciate the efforts of Jim, Joan and Harry as we try to recover our focus as a Car Club. The very tight budget proposed for the coming year makes it clear what our role as an organization is and will make the revisions in the by-laws, and the many clarifications easier to understand and accomplish. Our other board member Gail Jaeger has great history with the club and much to offer. Her roster proposal and efforts on your behalf are greatly appreciated. The schedule for the year is getting full so lets concentrate on, car shows, parades, camping, cruises, Fridays at the Pizza Factory, potlucks, breakfast group, coffee at Flowers, friendship, working on cars, Cruzer Meetings, parties, cars! cars! Cars! We have so much to do together and it should always be without pressures and involve what we want to do and not what we have to do! Finally on a personal note I still love to go cruzing with my favorite girl who was born in 1961, a great year for cars but a better year for brown eyed girls to have been born! Love you Maggie.
